The view from the top
Pike's peak is about 14200 ft tall. Colorodo spring is at about 7000 ft ( Phoenix is at 1100 ft) from sea level. So it was a lot of climbing. Half of this narrow road if paved and rest of it is simple dirt.
It was a cloudy day with little sun light. The temperature at the colorodo springs was 65 degree when i started climbing. To my surprise the temperature at the peak summit was 32 degree. A difference of 30 degrees. It was very cold and windy on the top.
The park ranger told me that the temperature reaches ( minus) -75 degrees in the winter with winds blowing at speeds greated than 100 mph. Because of that, there were no windows in the buildings at the summit.
I had taken several pictures along the way to the summit.

I had to drive through a beautiful little area called Monitou Springs. It was charming with all the festivities of saturday evening..
It was nice to see a lot of people walking around.. tiny shops everywhere..it was like small downtown/ european downtown feeling..
After getting passed that, i was going to Garden of the Gods. I had no idea of what it is. I went to the visitor center and i am glad i did it. Because, GOG is full of rock formations. To me, arizona/Utah border is the world capital of rock formations. So i was not really interested in spending time there. So I decided to proceed to my next stop, Pike's Peak.
Pike's peak is one of the tallest peaks in the rockies. It is the tallest where you can drive a normal car all the way to the peak summit.

After a lot of driving, i got to denver at late night. My brother durai helped me book a hotel.
The GPS in my new verizon Razr is very very very very helpful in navigating denver at night.
Unfortunately, I had to change the hotel in mid night.. The GPS was awesome in finding me a hotel nearby.
Day 2:
Next day, i got up late..made few phone calls... changed the hotel one more time.
Spend little time driving around Denver downtown before heading back to Colorodo springs.

According to Google, it is about 1,814 mi (about 30 hours drive). The drive takes me through Albuquerque-New Mexico, Denver-Colorodo, Omaha-Nebraska, Des Moines - Iowa to Minneapolis- Minnesota.
I started from the desert and drove through deserts, moutains and praries.
